First Entry From Font
Hi all this is WeNG from Font!
Right now sitting in a internet cafe in Fontainebleau town. Jay & i had juz picked Chris up from the train station. So thought might as well share some encounters of our trip so far.
Interesting happenings:
Transit @ Dubai
After the 7Hrs ride from S'pore, we had 3Hrs before our flight flies from Dubai to Paris. So all " of us juz relak one corner in the airport. The thing is all 3 of us assume the other 2 will keep track of time but "assumption is making an ass out of u and me". In the end we missed our transiting flight and gotta wait 7Hrs for our next flight! Thought we could visit Dubai since we got time, but once we step out of airport we found ourselves in the middle of a desert! haha... sorta lah, need to take a cab to town and it's pretty expensive. So we headed back into the airport and sat down in MacDonalds each having a MacArabia. After the meal it's juz a long 6Hrs wait for the flight.
Reaching Fontainebleau Town
After touchin down in Paris, we took a bus to the train station Gare De Lyon and from there took a free train ride to Fontainebleau. Free because the ticketing booth was closed, dunno how their system work man. Anyway by the time we reach Fontainebleau, it was pretty late. Think around 11+pm. It was pretty cold out in the streets and we were juz wandering outside the train station trying to figure out where to sleep for the night. Lucky for us this guy came up to us and introduced himself as a local climber. He had recognized us as fellow climbers from the crashpad we were lugging. He invited us to stay over at his place. Thank goodness man, if not we'll really be freezing out in the street. By the way his name is Henri. Next day we had a complimentary breakfast at his place and Henri gave us a ride to the Bas Cuviar Campsite. Nice fellow and lucky us!
Oh the campsite is still close but luckily the tap is still there. So we're sorta illegal camping there.
Bouldering
Had 2 days of bouldering did some pretty easy problems. Some which an old ah mah can do easily and i need few tries. Also tried some 7s. Can't finish them yet as of now. But should be no problems in a few days time. Juz taking it slow. Jay is pushing real hard as he only has é weeks here. He finished quite a couple of 7s mostly few tries after getting proper betas. Yesterday we juz gave a try on Karma. All of us couldn' do the move to the sloper. Seems like we are not slaping at the sweet spot, pretty long reach.

La Sportiva Venom
Yipee... got my new climbing shoes today!
Presenting to you The La Sportiva Venom!!
Back to the Venom, i tried them on juz now and it took me almost 5 mins to get my feet in to them. All thanks to the banana shape, but after i squeezed my feet into them they felt pretty comfy. That worries me a bit as climbing shoes are NOT suppose to be comfy, they suppose to be tight so that u get a better grip on footholds that are paper thin. Hope i dun have to end up selling them off like my pair of Katanas. Be sure to check back here if you are interested in a pair of size 37 Venom.
All right gotta rest early for the mock comp tml at ClimbAsia...zzzz
